Perfect Basmati Rice

Simple repeatable way of getting perfect rice using the absorbtion method

Ingredients

  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Soak the 2 cups of rice in cold water for about 30 minutes. Then rinse under cold tap until the water runs clear, to get rid of any excess starch.
  • Add the rice, salt and 4 cups of cold water to a pan and bring it to a simmer. Cover and simmer on a low heat for 7 minutes.
  • After the 7 minutes are up, turn off the heat and then leave the rice to rest in the pan (do not remove the lid).
  • Gently fluff with a fork and serve
